Seiya Kou

I've divided this section into two different parts, one for the anime and the other for the manga, since both are very different from each other.  If you were looking for stats and attacks they can be found under "Naoko's Comments"  Now onward to the information.

Anime Seiya

Anime Seiya is the reason why I love Seiya so much, of course.  He presented quite a plot twist to the series. ^.^ Oh... and Seiya is without a doubt, a GUY in the anime. At first glance, Seiya seems like the perfect idol.  Sixteen years old, he's part of a wildly popular new boy band, the Three Lights.  Dark, long hair, blue eyes, a snazzy school uniform and a spiffy red suit... what's not to like? He's into sports, such as American style football and baseball, but he's far from being a jock.  He does get good grades, after all.  If he can concentrate, that is. ^.^

Seiya is very outgoing, and bold.  If there's something on this boy's mind, he's going to come right out and say it.  Which... gets him into trouble.

Personality wise... well, our dear little Seiya has some faults.  He happens to have quite a temper!  If you cross him, he lashes out... literally!  He's been known to give his brother Taiki a punch in the face.  And he also happens to be rather mischievous.   He gets the idea to scare Usagi and her friends at camp, and talks his brothers into helping set it up.  Of course, that doesn't quite go as he planned... but little does. ^^;; Besides that, he's a flirt. Plain and simple.  Aside from the shameless flirting that gets lost on the dense Usagi, Seiya flirts with his fanclub to an extent as well.  Hey, come on!  If YOU had a fanclub, what would YOU do?  Oh!  And I mustn't forget to mention that little incident in Michiru's dressing room.  But who would have thought she would flirt back? O.o;;

Anyways!  Seiya's blood type is A. (Same as me!) In Japan, it is believed that this has a major significance to personality. Here's a description of type A blood, as taken from Tokyo Pop's Smile:

Type A's tend to be soft-spoken, perfectionists, trustworthy, a bit brainy, and not very social.

And there you have it.  I don't think that describes Seiya too well... He's far from soft spoken, and he's extremely social.  But I suppose he IS a bit of a perfectionist. That's part of the reason he's had clashes with Taiki in the past- he didn't feel Taiki was putting his all into their music.  Also, Seiya will try his best to be perfect.  An example of this is the time he was practicing for a part in a musical.. Akane, the director, refused to accept his performance as good enough, and he kept at it until he got it right. As for trustworthy, I definitely think that describes Seiya.  He's highly loyal to his siblings, and he will always pull through for them.  And of course he's loyal to Usagi.  He was going to transform in front of her in order to protect her from Aluminum Siren in one episode.  Unfortunately, Usagi beat him to it and well... lots of things happened. ^.^;; Lastly, there's the bit brainy part.  Yeah, Seiya is booksmart.  Not to the degree Taiki is, but he makes good grades with little effort.

Overall, Seiya is an easygoing guy.  He's extremely loyal, and really believes in helping people.  *siiiiiiiigh* He's the perfect guy, ne?

Manga Seiya:

Seiya.... as he is in the Manga.  I suppose I should begin by saying that he really is a SHE in the manga.  Yes... things are a bit different in the original version of Sailor Stars.

She enters the scene in just as she did in the anime.  At the airport.  This time, however, they see Galaxia kill Mamoru right in front of Usagi.  Being the nice people they are, the Three Lights take Usagi home.  The first thing Usagi notices about Seiya is the scent of lilacs... something she associates with her from then on.

Yes, Seiya is still the most popular idol among the fans.  And she's still nice to them.  But she's got a special interest in warning the senshi living on earth about the danger that's approaching them.  So she keeps a close eye on them, Usagi in particular. She also makes it a point to try and be friendly to Michiru and Haruka.  In their first encounter, they play at a concert together.  It is Seiya that approaches Haruka, and shakes her hand.

Her personality?  Well, her favorite food is hamburgers! ^.^ Not that THAT has any relevance....  I just wanted to add it.  Anyways!  Seiya seems a bit more reserved in the manga.  She is usually watching over Usagi from afar, and is waiting for her to realize what's really going on.  She immediately sees her as someone that could be an ally to her.  Of course, she also seems much more aloof in the manga.  She refuses to explain herself when confronted by Haruka and Michiru.

She's still very friendly and outgoing, and has an interest in sports.  She says she doesn't care how much work she has to do... she just wants to keep singing.  She is, of course, still searching for Princess Kakyuu.  And when she FINDS her princess... well, she's much happier.  And through a good portion of her time as Fighter, she has wings... ^.^

Anyways, I guess the manga version of Seiya is much more toned down.  But she's still as bold as ever!  She kisses Usagi (Jeez!  Why are so many people prone to do that?) and isn't shy to comfort her.  She also comes right out and says what she means to. She's just not nearly as goofy.
