Asteroid Senshi

Who are the Asteroid Senshi?  Well if you only seen the anime, they don't exist.  ^^  I haven't a clue why they didn't include this part of the SuperS story from the manga in the anime.  I assume it was for time purposes or something, but I'm rambling again.  The Asteroid Senshi only existed in the manga.  Curious?  Well then read on!

In the end of the SuperS arc in the manga Sailor Saturn approaches Neo Queen Serenity and asks for her Silver Moon Power to transform the Amazones Quartetto .  She does and the Quartet appear to the other senshi's surprise and introduce themselves as the Sailor Senshi under the protection of the Four Solar Asteroids.  Thus we meet Sailor Ceres(CereCere), Sailor Pallas(PallaPalla), Sailor Vesta(VesVes) and of course, Sailor Juno(JunJun).  Sailor Ceres explains to the shocked senshi that they were supposed to be asleep deep in the Amazon, but Nehellenia sensed the power of the stars.  Nehellenia's curse forced them to awaken.  

The Asteroid Senshi were enslaved in the Dead Moon nightmare.  Sailor Ceres continues to say that they were freed from the nightmare and they are very grateful for the senshi freeing them.  Then she looks at Sailor Chibi Moon telling her that they are going back to sleep, saying it's to early for their true waking.  She says that they will be waiting for the day when Sailor Chibi Moon will stand alone as a proud senshi.  Sailor Ceres happily smiles at Chibi Moon and explains that shall be the time for their true awakening, if she would allow them to protect her with their lives.  Sailor Saturn grabs Chibi Moon's hand and says that until then they(meaning the other senshi) are there to protect the princess.  Then poof they disappear!  Waiting on Chibi Moon to become a Proud Sailor Senshi. 

So we don't see them again.  Well not until the near the end of the Stars arc!  La la la..lots of good stuff is happening in the Stars arc of the manga.  If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.  Now we don't see the Asteroid Senshi again, until Sailor Chibi Chibi helps guide them to the final resting place of dead stars, guarded by Sailor Heavy Metal Papillion.  They come through the sky along with Eternal Chibi Moon, unleashing their Pink Lady's Freezing Kiss.  Thus freeing Eternal Sailor Moon, Princess Kakyuu and Eternal Chibi Chibi.  Then they proceed to attack Sailor Heavy Metal Papillion with their Amazoness Jungle Arrow, and well she's toast!   

Sailor Moon is shocked and surprised to see Eternal Chibi Moon and the Asteroid Senshi.  Chibi Moon explains that she's sorry that's she is late, but they swore to protect the galaxy as well and they came to help Sailor Moon.  She then tells her that everyone in the 30th century has collapsed and their Sailor Crystals started glowing and their bodies disappeared.  Sailor Moon tells her why this was.  I don't wanna go into great detail because it will spoil the series.  ^^  

Anyway after learning that Sailor Moon was in trouble Chibi Moon and the Asteroid Senshi decided to find her and help out.  They learned that Chibi Chibi was the one that guided them there.  Heh, and then there is this cute discussion between the Quartet and Chibi Moon discussing who Chibi Chibi really is.  ^^  Anyway they travel onward and run into Sailor Phi and Chi's Star garden.  I do not like this two.  A bad battle ensues...and eventually Sailor Moon is paired off against Sailor Galaxia.  (Yes, I know I'm skipping over parts, but I don't like providing spoilers, and well alot of this doesn't pertain to Sailor Juno and the others...)  

Ok so during this time frame, the Asteroid Senshi were knocked out, but they regain conscious when they hear Sailor Moon calling to them.  They give Eternal Sailor Moon all their power.  Of course they are all confused and they find Sailor Cosmos standing there at the edge of the Cordon.  Cosmos tells them that she is the ultimate form of Sailor Moon and thus tells them about her past story.  Big plot point here, so I'm not revealing anything.  After she is finished, she teleports them back to their own home and that's the last we see of the Asteroid Senshi!  

There ya go!  Unfortunately there wasn't a lot character development on Juno herself.  I think Naoko Takeuchi was pressed for time again and wanted to complete the series.  ^^  Anyhoo...now you know about Sailor Juno!  Now it's time to tell you about the real Asteroid Juno and the Mythology behind Juno.  I have so much info today!

Heh, that's a funny statement.  Mythology facts.  Uh, read on!

After Zeus married Themis, he married her sister, Hera(aka Juno).  This marriage is the one that the Greeks considered legitimate. It was not a happy one, and there were many fights. Most of the stories about the other affairs of Zeus are centered around Hera's raging jealousy. 

Hera is depicted as a bitter, angry woman who torments the sources of Zeus' affection, as well as their offspring. Hera would go to great lengths to bring down the children of Zeus. If they were divine, she would often take a position opposite theirs, simply for spite. If they were human, she would inflict terrible cruelties on them, and then carry on this anger to the offspring. 

Hera bore Zeus three children, though in some accounts there are four. The first was Ares (War). Next came Hebe (Youth), and then Eileithyia (Childbirth). In some sources the craftsman god, Hephastios, is considered theirs.
